The main objective of the workshop is to share with key stakeholders the work undertaken on gap analysis, needs assessment and international best practices and obtain their feedback. The feedback received during the workshop will be incorporated in the final findings.
To support the central and state agencies along with the industries in strengthening environmental compliance initiatives as well as to engage creatively with the industries, the following ICT based tools are being developed, viz.
These tools/ e-portal are being developed under SEIP II project to ensure better reach and accessibility to various agencies including the academia, researchers, practitioners and industries.
This workshop presented to the stakeholders the findings of the extensive interactions with the various stakeholders, series of discussions with the international consultants engaged by GIZ, along with research of various repositories and content available, ease of access as well as the prototype of the portal based on the concepts evolved so that the stakeholders could get a feel of the same. The Question & Answer sessions elucidate interactions with stakeholders to figure out their aspirations and expectations from the portal to make it more meaningful. The inputs from the workshop will be used to review and validate on the features and aspects of these portals.
Integration GmbH made a presentation of their findings following review of seven international environmental law portals and four Environmental Self-Assessment Tools for industries; on the best practices across the globe. These inputs were already built into the National Environmental Law Portal and the Self-Assessment Tool being built by Alef Eco Consulting LLP’s team.
The Industrial Wastewater Technology Platform being built by GeoStone Corporation, will make available information on technologies, case examples etc. on industrial wastewater management including conveyance systems, wastewater treatment, recycle/reuse, monitoring etc. Once developed, the Technology Platform will be operated on a private model.
GeoStone made a presentation on the status of Industrial Wastewater Technology Platform (IWWTP) Project. It was announced that the project has passed through a series of stakeholder consultation process started in November 2019 and so far, three webinars and a workshop were conducted with stakeholders spanning over 18 countries across five continents. The portal has been launched at its designated domain – www.wwtp.in and some the services which are allowed under the present COVID-19 pandemic related guidelines and advisories have been initiated. Around twelve companies are benefiting from the IWWTP Project as on date with a few more to join the list who have already expressed their intention. The outreach program to stakeholders have also been initiated to engage stakeholders with the IWWTP Project. During the workshop, snapshots of revised portal were presented for the information of all stakeholders. It was announced that the last workshop under the SEIP-GIZ Contract will be organized in August or September-2020 before starting Operations and Maintenance of portal under Self Sustainable Model from October-2020.
During the workshop Mr Sripati Cowalgi suggested to include ICCW Centre of IIT-Chennai on the portal, which GeoStone confirmed.
